Kovita is an associate professional counselor (APC) and a national certified counselor (NCC) specializing in clinical mental health counseling. She earned her bachelor of arts (BA) degree in psychology and criminology at the University of South Florida and attained her master of science (MS) degree in counseling from the University of North Georgia. Her graduate research focused on societal and individual attitudes toward suicide and its impact on help-seeking behavior among college students. 

She is experienced in individual counseling and group counseling.

She has professional experience working with adults in both inpatient and outpatient settings, individuals who are or have been incarcerated, on probation, or parole, have one or more DUIs, vehicular homicide, involuntary manslaughter, LGBTQIA populations, military and veteran populations, and college students. 

Kovita specializes in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Existential Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Person Centered Therapy (PCT). Her counseling approach is rooted in her values of empathic understanding, unconditional positive regard, and self-compassion.
